Overview

Should have 15+ years of experience with SQL Server and SQL Server Database Administrator for versions 2000, 2005, 2008R2, 2012 and 3+ years professional experience as an Oracle Database Administrator for versions 11g & 12c as well as MSSQL 2012. In addition the candidate must have Windows 4+ years of Windows experience

Responsibilities

* Will be expected to support a SQL Server environment of 1500+ databases as one of three primary database administrators and provide secondary support role for Oracle database environment of 450+ databases.

1.) Maintenance

  • Backup & Recovery
  • Testing
  • Alerts (Job failures, database & server capacity, etc…)
  • Database integrity checks
  • Review logs
  • Updates database statistics

2.) Administering High Availability solutions

  • Windows Clusters (SQL Server)
  • Standby databases & log shipping (SQL Server)
  • Data Guard (Oracle)

3.) Troubleshooting databases performance issues

4.) Troubleshooting application performance issues

5.) Database Maintenance & Configuration

  • Patching
  • Upgrading

6.) Security

  • Auditing
  • Configuring
  • Documenting

7.) Application (DDL & DML)

  • Enhancement & Corrective Changes
  • Emergency Changes
  • Patching
  • Upgrading

8.) Process Improvements

9.) SOX Control management & reporting

10.) Participate in the DBA On-call 1 week a month

11.) Documenting environments and processes where applicable

12.) Work with other DBA team members

13.) Work with various application teams

Candidates must have the following SQL Server skills:

Advanced knowledge in SQL Server database administrator functions, including performance tuning, DB backup and recovery, capacity planning, replication, high availability (Cluster Management), monitoring or custom scripts, installing & upgrading RDBMS S/W and of databases

Candidates must have 3 or more of the following Oracle skills:

Advanced knowledge in Oracle database administrator functions, including performance tuning, DB backup and recovery (RMAN), capacity planning, replication, high availability (Data Guard), monitoring using Grid Control or custom scripts, installing & upgrading RDBMS S/W and databases Good understanding and working knowledge of SQL, PLSQL and triggers and proficient knowledge or certification in a MS Windows environment
